Starting a job in 2017 as nature program coordinator for the Oakbrook Terrace Park District ‘s Lake View Nature Center was a perfect fit for Laura Saletta.

Q: What were you doing for work before you came to the Lake View Nature Center?

A: I worked at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum in Chicago.

Q: Do you have any hobbies?

A: I have tons, all having to do with being outdoors, such as kayaking, skiing and horseback riding. I just love being outdoors in nature.

Q: Have you always felt that way?

A: When I was little, I probably would have said I wanted to be an actress because I always liked making people happy, and I thought entertainment was a good way to do that. But I think being from a nature family was in me.

Q: What was it about nature and your family?

A: My grandfather was a forest ranger in Poland before coming to the United States and nature always has been important in my family.

Q: Are you married?

A: I’ve been married for 12 years to Patrick. We don’t have children. I have a small flock of button quails. I’m a bird rescuer and I’ve kept those birds.

Q: What is your favorite food?

A: Pizza, thin crust

Q: What do you like on your pizza?

A: Pepperoni and green pepper

Q: What’s your favorite area restaurant?

A: Weber Grill Restaurant in Lombard. I love food cooked on a grill.

Q: Do you have a favorite beverage?

A: Lemonade

Q: What super power would you most like to have?

A: I already have it. I can smell from long distances, which sometimes is good and sometimes not good.

Q: What is your favorite TV show?

A: Right now, I’ve been watching “Better Call Saul.”

Q: How about a favorite music artist?

A: David Bowie

Q: What’s your guilty pleasure?

A: Too much iced coffee
