In a recent social media post, a resident of Hinsdale High School District 86 asked the question: “What would it take to get you NO voters to vote YES.”
A number of no voters provided answers to that question, some in great detail. Briefly stated, I would gladly walk into a voting booth and pull the lever for yes, if the board and central administration addressed in a meaningful and transparent way the four ongoing concerns of no voters:
• The board presents a plan for optimizing the building capacities for each campus.
• The board presents a plan for aligning the curricular offerings at South and Central
• The board presents a referendum proposal that reflects the will of the voters as expressed in a survey they conducted in 2016.
• The board presents budgetary projections that align monies directly to student experiences in the classroom and extra-curricular activities.
