CLARENDON HILLS

This locality is a quiet. residential village with winding streets, towering trees, and gently rolling hills. The established community is content to remain relatively small despite the rapid expansion of some nearby villages. Two small lakes add to its charm.

Clarendon Hills is renowned for volunteerism. In fact, the village was nicknamed "The Volunteer Community", for its heritage of helping.

The village, established in 1873, primarily is residential with only a small scattering of light industry along the Burlington Northern railroad. Popular local events include: Daisy Days during the first weekend of June; and the Lion's Club Lion’s Fest over the Labor Day weekend.

The typical Clarendon Hills home is set back on a relatively deep lot. Cape Cod style houses predominate, giving the village the look of a New England town. Homes are predominantly built of brick, stone, and stucco.

Children attend primary school in District 181 and 60, and Hinsdale Central High School, District 86. The elementary schools offer instruction in computers, advanced math, and foreign languages. Hinsdale Central High School hag well respected academic and extracurricular programs. There is also a Catholic elementary school in the village.

The Burlington Northern railroad stops in Clarendon Hills. Express trains reach the Loop in 25 minutes, locals in 43 minutes. The village is close to the Stevenson Expressway (Interstate 55), and convenient to O’Hare.
